Crazy Stupid Love

Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling are the perfect duo in this romantic comedy that for once, is actually funny. This film doesn't follow the stereotypical, two people meet, fall in love and live happily ever after, (rubbish) storyline. Instead, lots of original twists and turns sees Carell, a middle-aged divorcee coached by Gosling (needless to say, a success with the ladies) into finding a new relationship after Julianne Moore leaves him for Kevin Bacon. People argue this film is too long at just over 2 hours but I think this is how we get to know the characters and become more involved with the story which separates it from others of its kind. It puts you through an enjoyable whirlwind of complications and having kids doesn't help matters especially when your daughter is as attractive as Emma Stone and your child's babysitter has a crush on you. DVD material.
